Job Description
The accountant is responsible to assist with the accounting and finance needs of the organization, as directed by the Chief Financial Officer, by completing, guiding and educating accounting functions of the organization to ensure good stewardship of resources while improving financial operations. Equally important is the responsibility of assisting management in the prevention and detection of any unethical or illegal behavior or any company policy violations that becomes apparent in the performance of the accounting and administrative duties. Duties include
- Processes payment data; logging, tracking and reconciling.
- Works collaboratively and communicates with members of the finance department and other departments to resolve data entry questions and to determine that billing standards/protocols are met.
- Understands basic grant and funding requirements.
- Accesses system information to audit compliance standards.
- Completes accounting reconciliations and credit billing reconciliations.
- Develops and designs ad-hoc reporting and special projects as needed.
- Assists the CFO with the month end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation.
- Assists the CFO with monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting.
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll.
- Assist with General Ledger Closing procedures (data input, reconciliations, etc.).
- Review monthly financial statements to determine proper charging of operating revenues and expenditures.
- Prepare monthly income statements by consolidating accounting data and provide written interpretation of results.
- Makes recommendations to the CFO for improvements to financial systems and reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliations.
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Will assist with payroll processing and closing, ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and timely.
- Assist as needed with communication of Key Personnel Dates (403(b) adjustments, FSA renewals, etc.).
- Plan administration of 403(b) for new participants, terminations, changes and payments in regards to payroll including Form 5500 compliance testing.
- Assist as needed with preparation of Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports at FYE.
- Assist as needed with preparation of UDS Report to be completed every February.
- Assist with Routine Financial and Accounting Related Communications through E-mail and Memos to other departments.

Required Skills/Abilities
- A solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
- Accounting, specifically in posting and general ledger
- Ability to apply complex accounting functions
- Working experience with income statements, balance sheets, and general ledger
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- The ability and desire to provide world-class customer service
- Integrity, with an ethical code of conduct, regarding confidentially of company sensitive and financial information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to work independently and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must possess sound decision-making skills and multi-task while working in an environment of stress with specific deadlines.
Education and Experience
- BS Degree in Accounting preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 2 to 3 years’ accountant or finance director experience preferred.
- Will accept 7 to 10 years of finance experience in lieu of a BS degree in accounting
- Microsoft Office experience at an intermediate to the expert level required
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
