Job Description
Responsible for accurate captioning of all charges from the Electronic Medical Record including any CPT, G-Codes, and ICD-10 codes needed for maximizing revenue. The duties include:
- Interact with patients and employees in a respectful and consistent manner consistent with the mission and values of CareSouth Carolina.
- Coding and Charge Entry: Entering CPT and ICD-10 codes as well as capturing G-Codes and translating any relevant sno-med code into the proper CPT code for services rendered.
- Review the Electronic Health Record to ensure that all relevant codes and charges have been captured.
- Protected Health Information Confidentiality: Maintains compliance with all relevant confidentiality standards including CareSouth Carolina procedures, HIPAA, JCAHO accreditation standards, etc.
- Completes and signs all documents in PowerDMS and completes all assignments in Relias in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
- Must have a minimum of one year's experience as a certified coder. FQHC billing/coding experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be an AAAPC-certified professional coder.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to work independently and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in the field or related field
Hours:
Full Time, 40 Hours, Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
