Job Description:
Compound and dispense medications following prescriptions issued by physicians and other authorized medical practitioners. Duties are:
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Check prescriptions that have been filled by technicians for accuracy as it pertains to patient, medication, dosage, side effects, and proper medication storage.
- Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
- Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive, unsafe or harmful interactions.
- Maintains records, such pharmacy files, patient profiles, system files, inventories, control records, and registries of controlled drugs.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
- Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by authorized healthcare providers by calculating and mixing ingredients, or oversight of activities.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Complies with all 340B program guidelines; maintains current knowledge of program requirements.
- Completes all assignments and signs all documents in PowerDMS & Relias in a timely manner.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing pharmacy workflow.
- Maintains current SC Pharmacy license and pharmacological knowledge by completing continuing education, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional societies.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy and drug enforcement administration.
- Reports to work at assigned times.
- Willingly performs other duties as assigned and/or required.
SKILLS/EDUCATION:
Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the state of South Carolina. A Master of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree required.
HOURS:
This is a full time position. All of the CSC Community Pharmacies are open Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 6:00. This position is to work four 10-hour days per week.
LOCATION:
This position is for a Pharmacist Floater; will float between all of the pharmacies – Bishopville, Hartsville, Society Hill, Chesterfield, Cheraw, Bennettsville, McColl, Dillon and Latta.
