CareSouth Carolina nationally recognized with two more Gold Status Awards

After receiving national recognition for its Target BP Gold+ status in working to decrease high blood pressure, CareSouth Carolina has received two more American Heart Association outpatient program achievement awards.

These awards recognize the organization’s commitment to reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke by improving high cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes management. The recognition highlights CareSouth Carolina's adherence to the latest evidence-based care guidelines.

Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke, or heart failure. High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure are leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but with timely diagnosis, research-based treatment, and education, these conditions can be managed.

“Our work to improve the risk factors for heart disease and stroke aligns with our mission to enhance and improve the health and well-being of the Pee Dee region,” said Dr. Jeniqua J. Duncan, Chief of Value-Based Care. “We are honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association and look forward to continued service in our communities.”

The outpatient achievement award programs put the expertise of the American Heart Association to work for health care providers nationwide, ensuring care aligns with the latest evidence-based guidelines.

This year, CareSouth Carolina received the following achievement awards:

  • The American Heart Association’s Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol™ Gold
  • The American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes℠ Gold
  • Target: BP™ Gold+ recognition, jointly presented by the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association.

“Heart disease and stroke remain the leading causes of death for Americans, and addressing Type 2 diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure management is key for better cardiovascular health,” said Dr. Howard Haft, American Heart Association volunteer, consultant, and senior medical advisor.
