The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).
Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.
All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.
This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

MCOLL, S.C. — CareSouth Carolina will be hosting a free Nutrition Class tailored for individuals with diabetes and/or high blood pressure. The event will take place on Friday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the McColl Health & Wellness Center located at 3080 Highway 15-401 E, McColl, SC.
Led by Christy Beasley, Community Health Educator, the class aims to empower participants with practical knowledge on managing blood sugar and high blood pressure through dietary choices rather than solely relying on medication. Beasley emphasized the ease of adopting healthier eating habits once individuals understand the principles behind it.
"Many people have never been taught how to eat healthy or the benefits of exercise," Beasley said. "This class will focus on controlling blood sugar and high blood pressure through diet and lifestyle modifications. We'll spend time discussing a healthy diet, nutrition, and blood sugar management, as well as the Dash diet for high blood pressure."
The session will include a food tasting featuring a Split Pea curry prepared by Beasley, allowing participants to experience firsthand a delicious and nutritious dish. Additionally, attendees will receive a complimentary bag of split peas to recreate the recipe at home.
"We are excited to host this class to support members of our community who are managing diabetes and high blood pressure," Beasley said. "Understanding proper nutrition and exercise is crucial for optimal health, and it's knowledge that should be accessible to everyone."
The class will conclude with a question and answer session, providing participants with an opportunity to address any queries or concerns they may have regarding their dietary and lifestyle choices.
