What’s the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan?

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).

Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.

All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.

This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

CareSouth Carolina to Host Instructor Training for "A Matter of Balance" Program

Chesterfield, SC – CareSouth Carolina, in collaboration with the CareFIRST Carolina Foundation, is thrilled to announce a special instructor training session for the "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls" program. This significant event aims to empower community members with the skills to help seniors improve their balance and reduce the risk of falls.

The training will be led by AMOB Master Trainer Christy Beasley, Community Health Educator at CareSouth Carolina, who has mastered the program and is dedicated to teaching others how to become effective instructors. This initiative marks the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that such training is being offered in the region, addressing a critical need for senior health and safety.

Event Details:

  • Where: CareSouth Carolina Chesterfield Site, 204 Perry Wiley Way
  • When: May 23, 2024, and May 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Cost: Free of charge (materials provided)

This course is highly recommended for Community Educators, Hospital Education Coordinators, Nursing Home/Assisted Living Administrators, Nurses, Physical Therapists, and representatives from the Area Agency on Aging and other Home Health professionals.

Participants will learn practical strategies to reduce fear of falling, how to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, and the necessary steps to help their senior clients decrease their risk of falls and hospital readmissions. The goal is to increase the likelihood that seniors will continue to live in their communities longer and safer.

"Reaching out to the seniors in our area who are at risk of falls but can learn to improve their balance is essential," said Christy Beasley. "We discussed the prevalent issues with Vantage Point and agreed that this training would greatly benefit our seniors."

Pre-registration is required, and spaces are limited. Certification as an AMOB Coach requires teaching two classes per year.

For more information or to register, please contact Christy Beasley at 843-624-9367 or email christinebeasley@caresouth-carolina.com.
