The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).
Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.
All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.
This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

CareSouth Carolina has announced the launch of its latest mobile unit, designed to bolster the reach and impact of its ROADS initiative (Reaching Out and Delivering Services). The unveiling marks a significant milestone in the organization's ongoing mission to deliver comprehensive medical care to underserved regions.
The ROADS mobile initiative is a cornerstone of CareSouth Carolina's commitment to extending vital healthcare services beyond traditional clinical settings. The initiative aims to bridge gaps in access to healthcare across the communities it serves, featuring fully-equipped medical exam units with a nurse practitioner, LPN, and medical assistant.
One of the primary focus areas of the ROADS initiative is School-Based Health Services. Recognizing the challenges faced by many students in rural communities who lack regular access to medical care, CareSouth Carolina brings healthcare directly to them. The newly unveiled mobile unit will continue this crucial aspect of the initiative, visiting six school districts in the Pee Dee region annually.
“We are so very excited to be able to replace one of our older mobile units with a newer, updated version,” CareSouth Carolina Associate Medical Director Jeri Andrews, FNP-C, said. “With the addition of this newer mobile unit, we will be able to continue providing quality patient-centered care to students in all of our partner schools in the CareSouth Carolina service area.”
Since its inception in 2015, the school-based care program has been instrumental in providing essential wellness visits and screenings to thousands of students in rural areas. Beginning with the Chesterfield County School District, the program has steadily expanded to include Lee, Dillon, Marlboro, and Darlington Counties, ensuring that more students have access to the healthcare they need.
Mobile ROADS will further enhance the provision of school-based care. With a focus on serving students in more than 57 schools across five different school districts in the Pee Dee, Mobile ROADS represents a significant step forward in addressing healthcare disparities among underserved youth.
