The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).
Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.
All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.
This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

CHESTERFIELD – CareSouth Carolina welcomes Dana Steen, FNP-C, as the newest provider at the Chesterfield Center.
Steen, a Pee Dee native, said she was drawn to CareSouth Carolina because of the organization’s dedication to patient-centered care.
“The patient-based quality-centered care is really what stood out to me,” Steen said. “I had worked with Dr. [Stephen] Smith (CSC Chief Medical Officer) before, but had no idea all the things we do for patients. The whole reason I became a nurse practitioner is because I’m passionate about making sure that patients receive proper care.”
Steen received her Master of Science in Nursing- Nurse Practitioner- at Walden University. She earned her Associates in Nursing at Northeastern Technical College.
Steen can be seen at CareSouth Carolina’s new Chesterfield Center. The new 17,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility opened in early 2021, illustrating CareSouth Carolina’s commitment to the community for the long-term. This new facility, which will be located at 204 Perry Wiley Way, more than quadruples CareSouth Carolina’s capacity to provide services to Chesterfield county and its surrounding areas.
“I love the fact that we have so many services that we can offer all in one office,” Steen said. “Having all these in-house is huge for continuity of care. I believe in treating the ‘whole patient’ and that means every aspect of their life is important.”
Outside of work, Steen said she most enjoys spending time with her family. She has four children and two grandchildren.
