CareSouth Carolina Welcomes DeMarcus Benjamin, MSN, APRN, FNP-C to McColl Office

McColl, SC — CareSouth Carolina is pleased to announce the newest addition to the McColl Health & Wellness Center team, DeMarcus Benjamin, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. 

DeMarcus, a lifelong resident of Marlboro County, is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a strong commitment to holistic patient care. His extensive clinical experience and dedication to improving the well-being of patients make him a valuable asset to the Marlboro County community.

He brings a wealth of expertise to the McColl Health & Wellness Center. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, he has been providing exceptional care in the acute care setting at Main Street Physicians since August 2021 and has experience with many different facets of healthcare, including emergency care, family medicine, and much more.

“My care style is very simple, but detailed and thorough,” Benjamin said. “I tell all my patients at their initial encounter that I know a little bit about a lot. If I don’t have an answer, I know what resources and routes to use to get them to someone who can get them an answer. I want to take care of the whole patient, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.”

DeMarcus Benjamin has consistently strived to improve the quality and quantity of life for the patients he has served. DeMarcus also plays a crucial role in promoting continuity of care and ensuring that patients receive the support they need throughout their journey.

“In this role, I like that I can be both the provider and the nurse,” Benjamin said. “I don’t feel that I am too qualified to do stuff like help the patient get to the bathroom or give an injection if needed. I fell that I should be able to help the patient in any way I can and I’m willing to go the extra distance to do what I can to help them overall. My role as a provider doesn’t just start and stop with prescriptions, diagnoses, and orders. I want to provide complete care for them in any way that I possibly can.”

In addition to his clinical experience, DeMarcus holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Family Nurse Practice from South University in Savannah, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. This extensive educational background equips him with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide top-notch care to patients.

DeMarcus Benjamin's commitment to serving the community extends beyond his role as a healthcare provider. He is the owner and director of the local dance company, Academy of Movement 2, based in Bennettsville, SC. This dance company, which has achieved multi-platinum awards and recognition, brings the art of dance to the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds in Marlboro County.

Outside of work and dance, DeMarcus most enjoys spending time with his wife and son, fishing, and playing adult slow-pitch softball. 

DeMarcus holds several certifications, including Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, a Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and his certifications in Basic Life Support / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
