The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is a new payment option in the prescription drug law that works with your current drug coverage to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by your plan by spreading them across the calendar year (January–December).
Starting in 2025, anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare health plan with drug coverage (like a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage) can use this payment option.
All plans offer this payment option, and participation is voluntary.
This payment option might help you manage your monthly expenses, but it doesn’t save you money or lower your drug costs.

CareSouth is thrilled to announce the addition of Heather Johnson, MSN, FNP-C, to our team of dedicated healthcare providers. Heather brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Pee Dee community.
Heather’s passion for healthcare was ignited when she spent time with her grandmother during various doctor visits. This early exposure to compassionate care inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others. Heather’s connection to the community and her desire to close the gap in healthcare access, particularly for school-aged children, make her an invaluable asset to CareSouth.
Heather stated, "The connection to the community and trying to improve health for members of the Pee Dee is what drives me. I love working with children and being able to provide school-based care and pediatric wellness visits.”
Heather will be working with the school-based ROADS team, providing access to care for numerous students throughout the Pee Dee region.
Heather earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, in December 2023 from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (May 2019) and an Associate of Science in Nursing (May 2013) from Francis Marion University and Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter, South Carolina, respectively.
Her professional journey includes significant experience in emergency and primary care settings. She has served as a Registered Nurse at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center since March 2018 and previously worked at The Medical University of South Carolina, Kershaw Health, and Carolinas Hospital System. Her roles have equipped her with a wide range of skills, from emergency medical procedures to primary care of infants, adolescents, women, adults, and geriatrics.
Heather is also certified in various advanced medical procedures and life support systems, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support from the American Heart Association.
Outside of her professional life, Heather enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, and indulging in all things Disney.
