CareSouth Carolina's Sarah Knight loves serving her hometown

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. — Sarah Knight, MSN, ANP-BC, has a passion for serving the residents of her hometown community through her role as a provider at CareSouth Carolina’s Chesterfield office.

Knight received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina before completing a Masters of Science in Nursing- Adult Nurse Practitioner- at South University.

“I like being able to help the patients and see the gratitude when they’re seeing improvement in their numbers or when they’re able to get a test done that they’ve never been able to get before because CareSouth can offer opportunities that they’ve never had,” Knight said. “With the nurse practitioner role, you have that nursing background, which means you learn to connect with the patient and you become a patient advocate yourself.”

Knight, a Chesterfield native, said she always had a desire to serve her community to the fullest through medical practice.

“I knew that when I went back to school to become a nurse practitioner that I wanted to work in Chesterfield if at all possible,” Knight said. “My patients are my high school friends, teachers and fellow church members. These are people that have worked to make me into who I am today and it’s just nice to be able to provide them access to quality healthcare in our community.”

Before coming to CareSouth Carolina, Knight served as a Registered Nurse (RN) for Chesterfield Visiting Nurses, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and Carolina’s Hospital System, as well as an Adult Nurse Practitioner at McLeod Family Medicine, in addition to several other roles in the industry.

Knight began working at the CareSouth Carolina Cheraw office nearly three years ago before a role became available in the Chesterfield office.

“I was fortunate enough to do one of my clinical rotations at the CareSouth Cheraw office and I was introduced to the organization that way. I just fell in love,” Knight said. “I really liked all the support that the provider is given- things like patient advocates and education- and I knew then I wanted to be a part of it.”

Outside of work, Knight enjoys spending time with her family and shopping. She married her “high school sweetheart” Trent and the two are going on nine years of marriage. She has three boys and the family enjoys traveling, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves.
