Dr. Stephen Smith Named Provider of the Year

Congratulations to our very own, Dr. Stephen Smith, MD who was awarded the prestigious award of “Provider of the Year” by the SC Primary Healthcare Association at the 24th Annual Clinical Network Retreat! Here is the script recognition from this weekend:

“Our next “Provider of the Year” has made a tremendously positive impact on those afflicted by the opioid epidemic in the Pee Dee region. Three years ago, this person received his DEA waiver to prescribe suboxone. He championed his center’s efforts to treat opioid addiction using medication-assisted treatment. The effort quickly paid off. Under his leadership, approximately 453 patients received much-needed treatment through MAT in 2017. He accomplished this feat while maintaining his full caseload and being the chief medical officer of his FQHC. It is my honor to present Dr. Stephen Smith from CareSouth Carolina with the “Provider of the Year” award.”
